This morning, I had the honor of drinking coffee and going on a walk with former Portland resident, Tuey Burns. She has been in Italy doing an internship at the Guggenheim and now she is on the way to Taipei, Taiwan for a spell.
You might know of her via her cake parties. She has an ongoing project in which she bakes enormous cakes and invites all sorts of people by postcard or telephone. It is all about connecting, thus no one will ever be invited via text message or email. Those forms of communication are too impersonal. Cake is very personal. Cake is about getting to know each other and there is a cake party every month wherever Tuey is. It is a lovely experience which I would highly recommend.
