I am half asleep and the only thing that kept me going tonight was Lola Beltrán - la Tequilyera (I'm not quite certain how the second part is spelled as I believe she's long dead and I bought her greatest hits, in that part of Mexico City where you buy the pirated music that you heard in the old man bar, drinking with the old men. Excuse me as I fumble to recall specific words that I will know again tomorrow.
I have good news and I have a confession.
The good news is that the remaining red alphabet letters printed be-you-ti-fully this evening. I somehow got our hulking old man of a press to spell out words in big saturated color. I have 5 letters left to finish off and a really painful amount of hand rounding to parcel out over time- just as it will take time for the alphabet to find its way into other lives and leave me. I'll just get started this week but I won't finish.
Oh and the confession- I am nearing the end of this project and I'll admit I don't always handle obstacles as calmly as I might. Upon arriving at the press this evening for another lovely rainy 15 or so hour day of working after work, I discovered that the red ink I had hand-mixed and put away in a drawer was missing. Its neighbors, our other left-over hand-mixed inks, were missing too. I had even ascertained the location of said red ink just last night, and suddenly it's gone and buried deep in a dumpster in the wet dark. I was devastated and I must admit in these sort of situations, especially when I am alone and it is a late I find unleashing a great stream of obscenities to be quite comforting. When I was finished, the ink formula came back to me and I made such a nice red all over again.
Alright, I hope you are well and better rested...
Oh no! I would have burst into tears! Snaps for cussing rather than crying!
