Here are some pictures of things that I was lucky enough to eat last week.
Above is the damn house from Trouble a coffee shop near the beach in San Francisco. Unfortunately the coffee was very weak, a shockingly midwestern-style state of affairs for a coffee roaster on the west coast. I loved the coconut so much and the cinnamon toast, they were perfect. If you ever order a damn house - get an espresso drink, well, unless you like your coffee watery. A friend who lives in that city gave me this advice when it was already too late.
Below are Jorge's huevos rancheros- the best I've even seen or consumed. He even made salsas to accompany that were creamy and hot from pistachios and chiles. This might have been the best breakfast of my life or at least in the top five.
Bad coffee makes me want to throw a chair through the window!
ReplyDeleteI heart artfully arranged avocado.
is there a recipe to accompany those huevos? that looks absolutely divine, and i have been craving real mexican food for a while now. the difficulty lies in finding a ripe avocado in a winter supermarket.. or timing the craving for guacamole with the ripening process of said avocado..
ReplyDeleteoh, i'm also curious as to the role of the coconut in the first breakfast..
ReplyDeleteif you enjoy french toast i tried a great recipe last week, so easy and yummy :)
