still alive

oh hello,

I just wanted to quickly write as yesterday's very long drive involved snowstorms and torrential rain. Getting here to where I'm sitting in another rainy city involved a somewhat harrowing 14 hour drive. I almost got a hotel room in Weed, California for all the buckets of snow falling on I-5 and me being an Oregonian - I'm afraid of driving in snow. I don't know what I would have done without the voice of my little brother on the phone while traffic stalled for an hour in the mountains. He checked all the radars and let me know the situation so I didn't need to have a heart attack. Then somehow I made it down to where it there were only buckets of rainfall falling from the depths of darkness stretching out around me and I drove further again and I somehow made it to Jen's house before she did and half surprised her.

I'm happy we're all still here.

And if you're ever in Sonoma, the Fremont Diner is adorable. We ate breakfast and watched the kitchen cut up beautiful pork fat in preparation for making lard and then we ordered some pie. It's so great to be alive.

  1. i'm glad you arrived safely in california and avoided the snow and the landslides and whatnot. i hope you have a lovely time and that the weather won't be as bad as they say.

ps, i just looked at the rest of the alphabet in your etsy shop and it looks great! i'm having a hell of a time deciding which ones i want next. i might have to try and win the lottery and then buy one of each.
