surprise and I'm leaving

hello,

so... tomorrow morning I'm going to drive to the bay area. actually, I'm driving to napa to surprise a friend who never reads this thing anyway, so she'll still be surprised even if I wrote my top secret plan down here.

and I'm so sleepy, I don't know why I'm not already trolling around in the basement for cds and printing out driving instructions. I'm leaving really really early. Then Thursday I'm going to San Francisco to visit my little brother and attend a "surprise" party for him. He's going to travel around the Southern Cone of South America for 3 months so we have to celebrate.

Meanwhile, my friend Mikey claims that the weather is going to be terrible throughout the entire state of California this week. There's going to be a flood of biblical proportions, it's the beginning of the end. His father thinks that the earthquake in Haiti is just the beginning of what will culminate in 2012 at the end of the Mayan Calendar and the end of the world as we know it. I haven't met Mikey's father but for the time being I will continue to hope for the best for all of us.

I do, however, have a week off of work and a real desire for distance and perspective. Thus I will continue to wish you well and cross my fingers that you'll do the same. With a little luck and a lot of trying, we will keep it together for another week at least.
